IBC Laundry Service

Our IBC Laundry Service consists of 7 stages of cleaning, repairing and testing to ensure IBCs are like new. We have a state-of-the art reconditioning line, incorporating the only 400bar internal pressure washer in Ireland and specialist leak testing procedures, which test both the IBC bottle and the valves. This service is available for both plastic and stainless-steel IBCs. It is a legally compliant, high-quality service that we hope will maximise the lifetime of your IBC fleet.

We have our own carefully maintained warehousing facilities, exclusively used for reconditioned IBCs and drums, just outside Dublin. So we can store your containers until you are ready for them and then use our trusted delivery network to get them to you quickly.

IBC Disposal

Packaging Laundry will collect used IBCs and drums from your site. Depending on the condition of the tank or drum and the contents they held, we may:

  1. collect free of charge (for reconditioning)

  2. pay a rebate for high quality, used containers (for reconditioning)

  3. charge a small fee to collect (uncleaned) IBCs or drums which contained hazardous materials (for reconditioning or recycling)

  4. charge a small fee to collect IBCs or drums which are beyond reuse (for recycling).

We are licensed to clean, shred and compact plastic and steel components that are beyond reuse, for recycling - see process in video opposite. While our main focus is on increasing reuse of packaging, we recognise that also providing an IBC recycling service will allow our customers to set up a system whereby they reuse containers a certain number of times, then recycle them – working with one trusted partner.

IBC Leak Testing Service

The European Agreement concerning the international carriage of dangerous goods by road (ADR) requires IBCs to be tested “at intervals of not more than two and a half years”. We have invested in the same leak tester used by both Schutz and Mauser for manufacture of new IBCs. It meets the standards set out by ISO 16106: 2006 and is the only tester in Ireland capable of testing both the bottle and the valve. Once the IBC is tested with a positive result, it will print an individual label for each IBC indicating the test and a traceable serial number. We can offer this service for composite, rigid plastic and metal IBCs.

Steel IBC Inspection, Testing and Repair

Even when using metal IBCs for storage purposes only, you may be legally obliged (and wise) to have them periodically inspected. This is a service Packaging Laundry can provide. Our service meets ADR requirements, ensuring that your IBCs comply with European law and are fit for purpose. The service involves using our state-of-the-art equipment to clean, leak test and valve test the containers. Should any repairs or replacement parts be required, on your authorisation, our specialists can source and fit these parts, or conduct any required repairs, then retest the container concerned. We can also engrave the “service history” on to each tank and provide a periodic inspection report with each load of IBCs. Putting a periodic service agreement in place may help your company to mitigate risks of product loss, damage and financial penalties. Any further details that may useful for your corporate Risk Mitigation Strategy can be provided..
